VISITORS to Leeds are easily convinced this is a city on the up. The sparkling shopping centres and glimmering office blocks give the impression of a successful and vibrant place with plenty to be confident about.
But what would those same visitors make of a trip to Armley?
Once one of its proudest suburbs, it is now blighted by street drinkers and has been for years.
Why on earth has it been allowed to deteriorate like this? Why can’t the authorities – the police and council, mainly – put a stop to this behaviour?
The good people of Armley deserve better.
