One of the UK’s highest-profile annual music events is heading for the First Direct Arena in Leeds.

BBC Radio 1Xtra’s 1Xtra Live spectacular will take place at the venue on Saturday, October 17.

The names of some of the stars appearing are due to be announced next month while tickets will go on sale soon.

Acts who performed at last year’s event in Birmingham included Rick Ross, Mary J Blige and Lethal Bizzle.

Announcing details of the Leeds date, 1Xtra’s Charlie Sloth said: “I’m lucky enough to go to some of the greatest shows around the world as a superstar DJ but there is one event in the calendar that always excites me more than most and that’s 1Xtra Live.”

Other cities visited by 1Xtra Live since it was first staged in 2008 include Coventry, Sheffield, Bournemouth and Bristol.
