THE STAGE is set for more panto fun as Snow White, the Wicked Queen and an army of dwarfs descend on Leeds.
It’s that time of year again as preparations for the Christmas pantomime at the Carriageworks Theatre get underway.
Firm panto favourite Jez Edwards is returning to the venue for his sixth consecutive year, alongside X Factor and G4 star Jonathan Ansell, who will perform for the first time in his current hometown of Leeds.
Jonathan, who lives in north Leeds with his wife and three-year-old daughter Sienna, will play the role of the Prince.
Jonathan, 32, said: “I moved here just over a year ago and it’s a fabulous city.
“Millennium Square is one of those central spots in the city that really comes to life at Christmas, especially with the German market, so it will be great to be a part of that.”
Children’s television favourite Jez Edwards, who will take on the role of Muddles, said: “Leeds keep building fond memories for me, and the crowds here are great.
“I’m getting to the point where I’m stood on stage and I can recognise people in the audience from the year before!”
Lisa Kelsey, who played wicked witch Carabosse in last year’s panto, is returning for the lead role of Snow White, alongside Brigid Lohrey as the Wicked Queen and comedian and impressionist Adam Daye as Dame Dolly Dumpling.
Councillor Lucinda Yeadon, Leeds City Council’s executive member for leisure and skills, said: “Once again we have put together a fantastic line-up which will guarantee lots of fun and crowd participation.”
