SCAFFOLDING is to be erected around the former Majestic nightclub in the city centre so that external support work can begin.
Following on from this work the damaged roof structure will be removed and debris from inside the building will be cleared.
Some disruption to traffic may take place as result of the work.
The Majestic is owned by Leeds based property company Rushbond. Mark Finch, Director of Real Estate at the firm says: “Following the fire and after the initial evaluation, our key priority is to protect the building before we start removing the roof and clearing the debris inside, which we expect to do in the coming months. Once this is complete we will be able to properly assess the true extent of the damage and provide a further update.
“Due to the building’s prime location on City Square, some disruption may occur but we’re working closely with Leeds City Council to minimise this and apologise for any inconvenience it may cause.”
