Her aunt, Sue Raleigh, was reported to have said the operation on her pelvis “went well”.

The Leeds Beckett University graduate may need further surgery on her knee.

Family and friends of Ms Hill posted a plea on a website after the hospital ran out of supplies of the blood because fewer than one per cent of Thai people have negative blood types.

The appeal was shared 40,000 times within six hours, with hundreds of messages from people trying to help.
