Woman in hospital after being hit by car in Leeds city centre collision

A woman with serious injuries is being treated in hospital after being hit by a car in Leeds city centre.

The incident took place near the Picture House pub, in Merrion Street, this morning at around 3.50am and saw the road closed.

Merrion Street was soon sealed off by West Yorkshire Police while officers recovered evidence at the scene. The road was fully reopened shortly after 9am.

A West Yorkshire Police spokesman said a man was “helping police with their inquiries” while officers search for the car involved.

Anyone who witnessed the incident is urged to call police on 101.
