Woman had earring embedded in face during drunken attack in Leeds by boyfriend
Kyle Smith, 27, struck the victim so hard during the attack that her earring became embedded in her face.
Leeds Crown Court heard Smith attacked his partner of nine months at their home in Morley after spending the day drinking.

Hide AdPhilip Adams, prosecuting, said the incident happened at 9pm on November 11 this year when the woman threatened to leave after a row.
Smith grabbed her by the throat and chocked her before releasing his grip and apologising. The argument then continued and he began to punch her repeatedly to the face.
The prosecutor said: “She lost consciousness but when she came around he was still punching her to the face.
“The defendant then stopped the assault and began to cry. He said he was a ‘monster.’”

Hide AdSmith, of Oakwell Road, Drighlington, pleaded guilty to unlawful wounding.
The court heard the victim had written a statement to the court in support of Smith describing his action as being out of character.
She said the incident took place during a stressful period in their lives.
Smith was given a 12 month prison sentence, suspended for two years.

Hide AdHe was also ordered to do 200 hours of unpaid work and complete a 33-day programme designed to address his offending.
Judge Tom Bayliss, QC, said: “It was the actions of a coward and the actions of a man who should be ashamed to shownhimself in public.
“If you ever lift your hand to another woman again, to prison you will go for a very long time.”
