POLICE are investigating after a woman was found dead on the pavement of a street in Wakefield this morning.

Emergency services were called just before 12pm to reports of a concern for the safety for a woman found on the pavement on Agbrigg Road in Wakefield.

The woman, believed to be aged between 60 and 70, was confirmed dead at the scene. Det Insp Paul Harrison of Wakefield CID, said: “Enquiries are ongoing after this lady was found on the pavement on Agbrigg Road near AFC Fisheries and the junction of Westerman Street. I would like to speak to anyone who may have seen her either on the ground or shortly before hand to establish what has happened. Anyone with information should call Wakefield CID on 101.”
