Woman found bound near Leeds church

A middle-aged woman was taken to hospital after being found with her hands bound near a Leeds church.

Police are trying to establish whether the attack on her near St Mary's Church, Whitkirk, Leeds, was of a sexual nature.

The alarm was raised after a passing driver saw the woman in a distressed condition at 5am on Tuesday morning near to the church community centre.

Officers arrived and found a 49-year-old woman with her hands bound.

She was released and taken to Leeds Infirmary where yesterday she was still detained.
