The 32-year-old was in her car on the ring road in Beeston, Leeds, close to the White Rose Shopping Centre, at 1.30pm on Friday when the vehicle in front forced her to stop.

The man driving the car got out and punched her, causing her nose to bleed.

A 22-year-old man from Leeds has been charged with common assault and making threats to kill.

But police are still trying to trace a witness who helped the victim.

A West Yorkshire Police spokesman said: “The victim called the police but had to get a woman passer-by to speak to the operator as she was having language difficulties.

“Officers are keen to trace this woman and her daughter as potential witnesses.”

The woman was described as white and aged in her forties.

She had a teenage daughter and they were travelling in a blue car.

The woman or anyone with any information is asked to contact Detective Constable Clare Fisher at Holbeck police station on 0113 2414642.
