A woman suffered fatal injuries when she was knocked down by a car on a busy Leeds road.

Emergency services were called to the A6120 Leeds outer ring road in Moortown at 10.20am on Saturday morning to reports of a collision.

A 43-year-old woman pedestrian had been knocked down by a grey Vauxhall Corsa near the junction with Tongue Lane.

She was taken to Leeds General Infirmary for emergency treatment but was pronounced dead later that day.

A police spokesman said: "The male driver of the Corsa stopped at the scene and has been spoken to by police.

"Officers are keen to hear from anyone who witnessed the incident or saw the woman, who was wearing running clothing, or the vehicle in the time leading up to the collision."
