Woman, 94, in West Yorkshire nursing home attack

A 94-year-old woman is being treated in hospital after she was subjected to a brutal attack by intruders who got in to a West Yorkshire nursing home.

Police have launched a major investigation after the pensioner suffered "severe head" injuries during the horrifying incident just after 10.30pm on Friday.

She was taken to hospital for treatment following the attack at Rosewood Court Residential Nursing Home in the Barkerend area of Bradford.

Her condition is described as stable.

Scenes of Crimes Officers were carrying out forensic tests at the nursing home in Shakespeare Close at the weekend.

And police are carrying out extensive house-to-house enquiries

A spokeswoman for West Yorkshire Police, said: "If anyone was in the area around Shakespeare Close on Friday night, and may have seen someone acting suspiciously, or if they have any information which could help officers with this inquiry then they should call the Homicide and Major Enquiry Team on 01924 334681 or Crimestoppers via 0800 555 111."
