Police are appealing for information after a woman was injured when a would-be robber on a motorbike dragged her along the road while trying to steal her bag.

The 18-year-old victim was walking along Kirkstall Lane towards Headingley at about 3.25pm yesterday (Monday) when the incident occurred.

She had just passed the crossroads with Kirkstall Hill when she noticed a red off-road motorbike parked outside shops with two white males in their late teens on it.

As she continued walking, the bike approached her from behind and the pillion passenger grabbed her handbag.

She was left with bruising and scratches after being dragged down the road before the passenger let go of the bag and the bike sped off.

DS Chris Craven, of Leeds District Neighbourhood Crime Team, said: “This was a very distressing incident for the victim who could easily have been more seriously injured. We would like to hear from anyone who witnessed the incident or who thinks they know who the suspects might be that are using a red off-road motorbike.”

Anyone with any information is asked to contact DS Craven at Weetwood Police Station via 101 or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
