White Rose Centre in Leeds re-opens after three-hour closure

The White Rose Centre has re-opened after being closed for most of the day due to an error in the fire alarm system.

The mall confirmed on Twitter that it was back open just after 2pm, after announcing the closure at 11am this morning.

An earlier post on the shopping centre's Facebook page explained that it was evacuated as a precautionary measure:

"Following this morning’s fire alarm testing, an error has occurred with the system. This poses no risk to our visitors, however to ensure the complete safety of visitors and staff we will be closing White Rose until this is resolved. We will update again as this progresses, apologies for any inconvenience."

Anyone wishing to visit a specific shop is advised to contact the store before visiting to check that they are open.

There were significant traffic delays in the area as large numbers of cars were turned away from the entrances.
