Work has begun on refitting a shop on Leeds' busiest shopping street in readiness for the arrival of a new business.

The premises on the corner of Briggate and The Headrow were most recently home to discount retailer, but have also been home to an American sweet shop and Dorothy Perkins in recent years.

Now the site is due to be taken on by supermarket giant Tesco.

A licensing application approved by Leeds City Council last month will allow the sale of alcohol every day from 6am until 11pm.
