A West Yorkshire councillor has travelled across the Atlantic to campaign for Hillary Clinton to become president of the United States.

Kirklees councillor Marielle O’Neill (Lab, Batley West) was one of 10 people picked to represent the Young Fabians on a research delegation to the USA. The purpose of the trip was to learn lessons that the society could apply to UK politics scene.

She said: “I knew I had to play whatever small part I could to support Hillary’s campaign and see her make history as the first female president.”

Coun O’Neill has been learning how candidates use social media and email to canvass and raise funds.
