They’re the girls who will provide the crowning glory at this year’s Bramley Carnival.

Skye Georgia Hopkins, pictured in the centre, will be officially named as Bramley’s Carnival Queen at the weekend.

The seven-year-old will be accompanied by a procession of princesses, pictured from left, Rosie Marie Hopkins, nine, Skye Murray, 10, Evie Murray, eight, and Talia Mortimer-Birch, nine.

They will help the west Leeds community join together and pay tribute to the chair of the gala, Terence Knapton.

Bramley Carnival started in 1865 and was restarted by the community champion in 2007 after decades in the wilderness.

Mr Knapton, who was also known as Lord Terrence Knapton of Glencoe, sadly died last month. But his friends have vowed to continue the Carnival in his honour on Sunday, July 20.

The annual gala, which will be Tour de Carnival themed, will be held at Bramley Park.

Stuntworld Motorcycle Stunt Team will perform.
