PLANS have been lodged with Leeds City Council for a total of 21 lock-up garages in Stanningley to be demolished and replaced with new housing.

The garages stand on land at Half Mile Green and, according to a report drawn up by RD Stott Architects and submitted as part of a planning application to the council, are falling into a state of disrepair.

The developer seeking permission to knock down the garages wants to build four semi-detached two-storey houses on the site.

The RD Stott Architects report says the scheme would provide “much needed starter homes in the area while visually enhancing the area and adding value to the site and its adjoining [neighbours’] properties”.
