Throughout November, employees at MEPC’s Wellington Place development will have access to a variety of free workshops and classes to help them ‘find happiness’ in the workplace.

Seminars will also focus on ways to improve sleep patterns and feature ‘mental health first aider’ classes.

Companies based at Wellington Place will also have access to a variety of ongoing activities including knitting classes, fitness classes and a workplace choir, all of which aim to reduce stress levels and boost wellness.

The Mental Health Foundation recently announced that nearly 15 per cent of people experience mental health problems in the workplace, with 13 per cent of sickness absences attributed to mental health conditions.

MEPC spokesperson, Dominique Simcox, said the mental health first aid class filled up within minutes.

She added: “It’s essential we do everything we can to improve wellbeing and combat the taboo around mental health issues.

“Mental health is such an important subject that is rarely discussed openly, and we want to help change that by creating an opportunity for people to learn more and challenge the stigma.

Wellbeing as a whole is something we’re incredibly passionate about here at Wellington Place and we want to do everything we can to play our part in helping to create a happy and healthy working environment for people to enjoy.”

MEPC is currently transforming 22 acres of city centre space into a new urban quarter that will see 12,000 living and working at Wellington Place.
