The meteorological gods are not feeling generous this Christmas - with heavy gales set to blow in on Boxing Day, bringing some ho-ho-howling winds.

The Met Office forecasters predict possible power cuts and disruption to travel (not that any of us can really go anywhere).

"Some roads and bridges may close

"Power cuts may occur, with the potential to affect other services, such as mobile phone coverage

"Injuries and danger to life could occur from large waves and beach material being thrown onto sea fronts, coastal roads and properties

"Some damage to buildings, such as tiles blown from roofs, could happen"

Far from reports of possible snow, Christmas itself will actually be quite mild, with highs of 5 degrees on Christmas Day in Leeds, and little in the way of rain.
