Urgent warning issued in Pudsey as flooding expected in homes and on roads

An urgent warning has been issued in parts of West Yorkshire as flooding of homes and roads is expected.

Tyersal and Pudsey Beck at Pudsey are both expected to flood according to the flood information service due to heavy rainfall.

River levels are expected to remain high through the rest of the day, the service said.

The warning reads: "River levels have risen as a result of the recent persistent rainfall. Consequently, flooding of property and roads is expected. Areas most at risk are Tyersal and Pudsey Beck. Further rainfall is forecast over the next 12 hours. We expect river levels to remain high until throughout the rest of today (06/02/2021) and into tomorrow.

"Our incident response staff are closely monitoring the forecast and checking defences. Please move possession and valuables off the ground or to safety and avoid contact with flood water. This message will be updated by 13:30 on 06/02/21 or as the situation changes."

Lingwell Gate Beck at Lofthouse Gate in Wakefield is also expected to flood with residents warned by the flood information service.The flood alert for the area states: "River levels have risen as a result of the recent persistent rainfall. Consequently, flooding of property and roads is expected. Areas most at risk are properties along Philip's Grove, Lingwell Nook Crescent, Lingwell Nook Court, Lingwell Chase and Park View. Further rainfall is forecast over the next 12 hours. We expect river levels to remain high until throughout the rest of today(06/02/2021) and into tomorrow. Our incident response staff are closely monitoring the forecast and checking defences. Please move possession and valuables off the ground or to safety and avoid contact with flood water. This message will be updated by 13:00 on 06/02/21 or as the situation changes."
