Snow settles across Yorkshire as police warn drivers to be careful

Snow has begun to settle across Yorkshire prompting police officers to urge drivers to be careful.

Officers from the West Yorkshire contact management centre said they had received a "few" calls about snow settling at 2am today.

In a tweet, they advised drivers to be careful.

Officers said: "A few calls about snow settling around the force.

"Please do be careful when driving in the early hours. #DriveSafe"

The Met Office forecast advised a cold and very windy start to the morning.

There will be morning gales and occasional sunshine.

It will be less windy by the late afternoon.

Maximum temperatures are set to be about eight degrees.

Tuesday night is set to be cold with frost by dawn.

The minimum temperature will be minus one degrees.
