Five urgent flood warnings and three flood alerts are in place across Leeds on Thursday morning.

The warnings were issued on Wednesday as Storm Christoph brought persistent heavy rain to the city.

River levels continued to rise and peaked overnight after heavy showers and some snow.

When a flood warning is issued, residents at risk are advised to immediately turn off their gas, water and electricity.

They should move belongings, family and pets upstairs or to safety and move their car to a safe place.

Flood warnings in place:

- Bramham Beck at Bramham​

- Collingham Beck at Collingham

- River Aire at Allerton Ings, Barnsdale Road and Properties

- River Calder at Methley and Mickletown

- River Calder at Whitwood Mere

There are three additional flood alerts in place across Leeds, where residents at risk are advised to activate their flood defences and 'be prepared'.

Flood alerts in place:

- Middle River Aire catchment

- Wyke Beck, Meanwood Beck and Wortley Beck catchments​

- Lower River Wharfe
