An amber weather warning for rain has been issued for Leeds.

The Met Office issues three levels of warnings - yellow, amber and red.

An amber warning means there is an increased likelihood of severe weather, which can cause travel delays, road closures and power cuts.

The amber warning for Leeds is in place from 6am on Tuesday to 11.59pm on Wednesday.

A yellow warning for rain has been issued for Thursday.

What to expect, according to the Met Office:

- Homes and businesses are likely to be flooded, causing damage to some buildings

- Fast flowing or deep floodwater is likely, causing danger to life

- Delays and some cancellations to train and bus services are likely

- Spray and flooding probably leading to difficult driving conditions and some road closures

- A good chance some communities cut off by flooded roads

- Power cuts and loss of other services to some homes and businesses likely
