Snow has been falling since 6am in several parts of the city, with temperatures as low as one degree C.

Cookridge, on the high ground, has had the worst of the snow, but Kirkstall, Adel, Alwoodley, Bramley and other parts of the city have also seen heavy snow showers.

The police are advising drivers not to travel and the latest forecast is predicting snow to keep falling until 8pm.

Many roads including Moseley Wood Bank and Moseley Wood Gardens have been covered in several inches of snow and conditions for travel are poor at best.

Schools across Leeds are also being closed as the snow takes hold for the second time in a few days.

West Yorkshire Police has warned drivers not to travel due to adverse weather conditions.

The force's Contact Management Centre tweeted a picture of the snow and said: "So the car park was clear half an hour ago. Covered now.

"Snow is forecast for most of the day so avoid travelling today."

There are delays to bus services across the city and all Flyer buses between Leeds Bradford Airport and Harrogate have been cancelled.
