Bark in the Park CANCELLED as severe weather set to hit Leeds

A fundraising dog walk in aid of St Gemma's Hospice has been cancelled - as severe weather is set to hit Leeds this weekend.

Bark in the Park was scheduled from 9am on Saturday at the Temple Newsam grounds.

The annual event was set to attract hundreds of dog walkers who would take on a one, three or six mile route to raise money for the Moortown hospice.

Organisers have postponed the event due to 'deteriorating weather conditions' which could pose a risk to the safety of participants, volunteers and staff.

The event has been rescheduled for Saturday, April 18 and all bookings will be automatically transferred.

There is a yellow weather warning for rain in place across the city on Friday and Saturday.

The Met Office said: "It will be very windy on Friday with outbreaks of rain.

"Often windy with further outbreaks of showery rain Saturday and Sunday.

"Some overnight frosts."

Leeds Council-owned sports pitches have also been forced to close this weekend due to the severe weather.
