Leeds experienced snow and freezing temperatures on Thursday, January 14, causing many services to be disrupted.

Many people took to the city's parks to enjoy the weather, make snowmen and go sledging.

However, as the snow began to melt over the weekend, residents were shocked to discover that many people had simply discarded their sledges in the park.

Thomas Bell took a photograph of the discarded sledges, which shows broken red and blue plastic strewn across the grass next to a bin.

An old broken suitcase and a broken plastic storage box, presumably used to sleigh, can also be seen in the photograph.

Mr Bell said: "What is wrong with people. Always someone else’s problem.

Another social media user, who shared a similar photograph, added: "You bring it with you, just take it home instead of leaving round for other people to clear up or worse cause injury to animals or people", while another responded: "So frustrating. The open spaces are such an amazing public asset for everyone to enjoy especially at the moment.

"Those making this mess have clearly been enjoying the facility, to then damage it when they’ve had their fun, shows no respect for others or the environment."

However, there were plenty of positive stories of people going out of their way to help others during the heavy snowfall:
