Watch: Planes battle against gale-force winds to land at Leeds Bradford Airport

An aircraft was forced to circle Leeds Bradford Airport for half an hour this morning as it attempted to land in high winds.

The Aer Lingus flight from Dublin eventually touched down safely after being held above the runway amid gusts of around 50mph.

A British Airways arrival from London Heathrow also landed safely, but both aircraft were buffeted sideways by Storm Georgina.

Wind speeds will gradually drop in Leeds throughout the day, but will remain between 30-40mph.

Heavy rain will clear by midday and there will be some sunny spells.
