A warning has been issued across the UK to stay out of the sun this week as temperatures hit a high.

The Met Office has issued an amber heatwave alert, and is urging people to not go outdoors, keep their windows shut and to draw curtains, with thermometers expected to reach 101F!

The heat is due to an air plume from Africa and the Mediterranean, and it expected to last all week, the top temperatures expected on Thursday and Friday.

The alert comes as temperatures are around 10C higher than average for this time of year in the UK - hotter than Jamaica.
