Wakefield: Snowball probe leads to drugs probe

A routine call about youngsters throwing snowballs ended in a drugs swoop for police in Wakefield.

Wakefield Central Neighbourhood Policing Team officers were sent out to reports of youths throwing snowballs in Portobello last week.

But when they went to a house to speak to one of the culprit's parents, a Police Community Support Officer suspected there may be drugs in the house.

A West Yorkshire Police spokeswoman said: "The officers entered the property and seized drugs and associated paraphernalia, cash and other assets. A 29 year old woman was arrested for possession with intent to supply and money laundering.

"She has been released from police custody and further enquiries are taking place."
