Wakefield: Hunt for hit-and-run driver after man seriously hurt

A HIT-and-run driver who left a 50-year-old man seriously injured is being hunted by police.

The victim was struck as he was checking his car on Thornes Road at Wakefield at around 11am today. (October 17)

The driver of the unknown vehicle involved failed to stop at the scene.

The injured man, who is from Wakefield, was taken to Pinderfields Hospital for treatment to serious life threatening injuries.

Police closed Thornes Road for almost three hours while enquiries were carried out.

A police spokesman said: “Officers would like to speak to the driver of the vehicle which failed to stop or anyone who may be able to identify who the driver was.”
