Video - Underwater divers to search Pugneys Country Park for missing Wakefield man

Pugneys Country Park has been closed by police carrying out a search for a missing man.

Specialist underwater search teams have been called to the park and are due to arrive this afternoon (Tuesday).

Officers from West Yorkshire Police’s off-road motorbike team and the force’s helicopter are both searching the site.

A Wakefield Council spokeswoman said the site has been closed while the emergency services deal with the incident.

A West Yorkshire Police spokesman said: “Officers are in attendance at Pugneys Country Park in Wakefield as part of ongoing enquiries following a missing person report made earlier today (Tuesday) in relation to a 40-year-old local man who has not been seen since Friday, July 31.

“Pugneys has been temporarily closed while a thorough search is made of the area, including the deployment of an underwater search team from Humberside. The public are thanked for their patience during this time.”
