Video: Thousands of starlings flying under an orange dusk sunlight in a way never seen before
The flock, called a murmuration, was captured by wildlife cameraman Matt Brierley at the Somerset Levels.
The 36-year-old used a slow motion camera and sound recording equipment to capture the sights and sounds of the murmuration like never before. A highly sociable family, starlings travel in thousands and can mimic sounds such as car alarms, human speech patterns and the calls of other birds. They can be found all over the world but their preferred habitat is open country so the Somerset Levels - a wetland area home to a vast variety of plants and birds - are ideal.
