This purple seagull was spotted in the harbour at Bridlington by Oliver Stone, who photographed it in a bid to raise awareness of the practice.

It comes after two gull chicks were discovered in the resort, one of which died as a result of the toxic car paint in which it had been smothered.

Last month animal lover Steve Fault, 41, spotted a young seagull plastered in pink car paint before taking it home to feed.
