Video: Scientists have developed bandages for wounds made from CRAB SHELLS

The technology, created by scientists at the University of Bolton, is expected to have a turnover of a whopping £250 million-plus after the first year.

It includes smart wound dressings, helix-inspired prosthetic grafts and collagen tendons. The team behind the research was led by Mohsen Miraftab, a professor of fibre science and technology, who worked alongside the Knowledge Centre for Materials Chemistry. Prof Miraftab’s team is the first to successfully create a combined fibre strong enough to form a wound dressing through a universally patented technique, which has been ten years in development.
