Video: Pupils make some noise as Stomp! storms Leeds

SILENCE may be golden but pupils at a school in west Leeds are actually being encouraged by teachers to make a racket.

Farnley Academy had a special visit from cast members of hit West End show Stomp!. Around 120 pupils in Year 7, 9 and 11 banged drums, bin lids and rubber radiator hoses during a music workshop with the stars for a few hours yesterday afternoon. The award- winning show involves performers making music and rhythms with lighters, plastic bags, bin lids and even a kitchen sink.

Lewis Willshire, 13, said: “I really enjoyed making lots of noise. It was fun because we weren’t just sitting at a desk, we were up there doing it ourselves.”
