Video: New Game Of Thrones '˜Dragon Ants' identified

Nightmarish '˜super ants' discovered in the tropical rainforests of Papua New Guinea have been named after the Game of Thrones dragons - because of their huge spines.

The monster insect lacks the fire-breathing capabilities of the mythical beasts from the fantasy TV series - and use their powerful backs to fight off enemies instead! It has been called Drogon after one of the dragons born in the Dothraki Sea - along with Viserion and Rhaegal. Named after Daenerys’ late husband Khal Drogo he is the largest and most aggressive of the three hatchlings. The researchers took advantage of new 3D imaging technique to look inside the spines of the major worker ants for clues to their function.
