Thankfully, no lorries or large vehicles were on the road at the time and oncoming traffic slowed down to allow the balloon to land safely.
Paul Ellis captured the moment on his car’s dashboard camera as the huge red balloon came into view and ended up hovering above Marine Drive in Southport, Merseys.
He uploaded the 47-second clip to YouTube on Saturday, where it’s since had over 4,000 views.
