Video: Man builds mini-football stadium in grandsons' front yard - so the boys don't get told off for getting muddy

Devoted Frank Christie, 63, created the fake grass pitch - complete with a sign saying 'Welcome to Christie Park' - to stop the football-daft lads getting covered in muck.

And grandsons Matthew, 10, Aiden, seven and Niall, 4, are delighted - as their mum Donna no longer gives them a row for getting their clothes filthy at the park and in their old front garden. Retired heating enginer Frank said: “Donna was always telling them to get off the grass because it was so muddy they ended up filthy. “She was going through a box of soap powder every week, so we came up with the idea of laying a plastic pitch.”
