Plasma screen TVs, four-poster beds and spa treatments paint the picture of a perfect getaway.
But the luxurious touches of one hotel in Thornhill, Dewsbury, are aimed at guests of the furry feline variety.
The Ings Luxury Cat Hotel has everything from TVs playing virtual fish tanks and bird scenes to outdoor balconies and an a la carte menu for discerning pets.
After two years of planning, self-confessed cat lady Jo Ounsley, 43, has built the pet pampering palace in the grounds of her family’s small holding and is purring at the prospect of entertaining guests.
Jo, a former retail manager now trained in cattery management, told the YEP: “It’s the perfect place for a cat to come, although some people might think it’s a little bit extravagant. We just want them to be constantly entertained and stimulated and that really leads to a happy cat.”
She said her recently deceased 18-year-old cat Feline was the inspiration for the hotel – a contribution she’s marked with a portrait of the cat wearing a crown hanging in the building’s reception.
Each themed suite has been individually designed to keep cats entertained, while owners are updated with their progress via emails and postcards.
Extras can include massages and even bed time stories read in front of virtual log fires.
Jo, who will run the 12-suite cattery with help from her 12-year-old daughter, has spent months visiting catteries, vets and experts in preparation.
She said: “It’s not for higher class cats at all, it’s for people that just want confidence in knowing that when they go away on holiday their pet will have a better break than themselves. They will be pampered, enjoy coming and probably not want to go home.”
Its 100 sq ft Woodland Wing, one of the largest cattery suites in the country, is the most expensive to book at £40 per night. Other rooms are usually £15 per night.
An open day launch will see stilt walkers and a hot buffet at the facility on December 1, from 2pm to 4pm.
