teachers from a Leeds school got on their bikes for a gruelling fitness challenge.

Five members of staff from St Mary’s, in Menston, cycled 1,350km – the distance from the village to Milan – on static bikes in aid of Martin House Children’s Hospice, one of the school’s chosen charities.

Each member of the team cycled 270km and rowed 10km in order to match the distance. They cycled through the night before completing the challenge yesterday lunchtime after more than 21-and-a-half hours.

Sarah Tarpey, community fundraiser for Martin House, said:“Thank you so much to everyone taking part in the Menston to Milan cycling challenge.”
