Video: Group of madcap gardeners raced against each other on LAWNMOWERS

Incredible pictures show more than a dozen riders hitting speeds of over 60mph as they ripped across usually peaceful fields last Saturday (20/8) and Sunday (21/8).

The racers on their souped-up mowers battled against each other for four hours each day in various events on farmland at Willingham by Stow, Lincs. Green-fingered drivers flocked from around the country to compete in sprint events, endurance events and an F1-style race in the tranquil village. The speedy lawnmowers can cost as little as £200 but have their cutting blades totally removed for competing. Racer Tony Dwight, 44, from Wigan, said: “We love coming down here because most of the time we are doing this at shows but racing in the countryside here is great.
