Business owners on bustling Narborough Road hail from African nations like Tanzania and Zambia as well as Asian countries like Pakistan, Iran and even Afghanistan.

There are also shopkeepers from other European countries like Lithuania and Poland, a fish and chip shop boss from Hong Kong and a book shop run by a Canadian couple. The road, which is is home to shops, bars, cafes and restaurants, is the commercial heart of a community of 11,644 people. But boffins have now officially named it the most diverse street in the UK after discovering the owners of its 222 shop units come from 22 different countries.
