UPDATED: White Rose Centre in Leeds re-opens after closure 'for safety reasons'

UPDATED: The centre re-opened at 2pm

The shopping mall shut its doors this morning for safety reasons after an error in the fire alarm system was discovered during testing.

Chaos at White Rose as parents queue for hours for cheap Build-a-Bear Workshop teddies

Some visitors complained that the car park remained open, leading to 'gridlock' as people tried to turn around and exit.

A statement posted at 11am on the White Rose Centre's Facebook page read:

"Following this morning’s fire alarm testing, an error has occurred with the system. This poses no risk to our visitors, however to ensure the complete safety of visitors and staff we will be closing White Rose until this is resolved. We will update again as this progresses, apologies for any inconvenience."
