UPDATED: M621 in Leeds reopened after man who threatened to jump from bridge is led to safety

THE M621 near Leeds city centre has been reopened in both directions after a man who had been threatening to jump from a footbridge was led to safety.

West Yorkshire Police said officers were notified just after 5pm tonight that a man was threatening to jump from a bridge over the motorway.

Just before 5.30pm, Police closed the motorway in both directions between junction 4 for Hunslet and junction 5 for Beeston.

Officers were sent to the scene to speak to the man who was threatening to jump.

The motorway was reopened just before 6pm after the man stepped away from the edge of the bridge and was led to safety.
