Unplanned power cut leaves more than 500 homes in Leeds without electricity

More than 500 homes and businesses in Leeds have been left without power today after an unplanned power cut near Alwoodley.

At 12.55pm, Northern Powergrid reported 560 properties hit by an unplanned power cut in LS17, affecting homes in Alwoodley and Moor Allerton.

An unexpected problem with the cables or equipment in the area has caused the power cut.

Engineers are working to fix the problem but Northern Powergrid cannot yet give an accurate restoration time for homes in LS17.

Another smaller power cut was reported in Pudsey at 9.30am and about 130 residents and business owners near Waterloo Road were left without power.

Engineers had restored power by 1pm.
