Try on vintage fashion at nostalgic Trinity event
A pop-up clothing collection will give Leeds shoppers the chance to dress up in vintage style next weekend.
Items from the glamorous 1930s and chic 1970s will be available to try on during the drop-in event organised by Marks & Spencer.
Rare examples of vintage clothing will also be on display, including star trends such as 1930s pyjamas, 1940s wartime fashion, 1960s school uniform and 1970s disco style.
The clothing is being selected from the M&S Company Archive whose staff will be on hand to talk through the collections and popular styles of past decades.
The free pop-up event will take place outside the M&S store at Trinity Leeds on Saturday, July 16 from 9am-8pm.
The pieces that will be available to try on are lifted from the Archive’s handling collection, which has been specially created for public events.
M&S archivist, Katharine Carter, said: “It’s a great opportunity for people to try on some key trends from decades gone by and explore the fascinating history of fashion at M&S.”
The pop-up event follows a recent M&S ‘Dressed in Time’ fashion show which saw decades of fashion items paraded on the catwalk at the Company Archive based at Leeds University’s Michael Marks Building.
