A woman who went missing from her Leeds home on Monday is believed to have been hit by a train.

Police appealed for information after 44-year-old Gaynor Walls, of Tinshill, went missing having last been seen near Horsforth railway station at about 3.30pm on Monday.

At about 12.30pm the following day a woman was hit by a train at the same station.

She was pronounced dead at the scene.

A British Transport Police spokeswoman said today: “We believe the woman may be 44 years old and from the local area but are waiting for formal forensic identification to take place which is likely to be tomorrow or the day after.”
