The plane was a RAF A400M Atlas aircraft from RAF Brize Norton in Oxfordshire.

The aircraft was engaged in essential training focused around Leeds Bradford Airport (LBA), and will also be operating in the Doncaster and Birmingham areas during the rest of the day.

Gill Blair captured this stunning footage from outside LBA, while Bob Peters took the photograph.

It seems that military aircraft have been taking advantage of the quiet lockdown skies to get in some practice, with the same aircraft flying over Leeds less than a week ago.

RAF Brize Norton tweeted this afternoon: "This afternoon/evening, our A400M aircraft will be operating in the vicinity of Leeds, Doncaster & Birmingham, whilst engaged in essential training.

"These are necessary, routine, flights and not connected with RAF support to the UK's fight against COVID-19 #A400M #Atlas."
