Watch the stunning moment a Lancaster Bomber flies low over Leeds Bradford Airport

The Avro Lancaster is the most famous and successful RAF heavy bomber of World War Two.

There are only two airworthy Lancasters left in the world - 7,377 were built.

The spectacular aircraft was spotted flying over Leeds mid-afternoon.

Writing on Twitter, Andy Lee said: "Walking through Farsley (Leeds) at 3.35pm and low over my head passed BBMF Lancaster bomber PA474.

"Left turn onto final approach on Runway 32 then departed to the south. That's made my week and possibly my year! Thanks @RAFBBMF (RAF Battle of Britain Memorial Flight) keep her flying for future generations to enjoy."

Photographer Neil Vary sent a snap to the Yorkshire Evening Post.

He said: "Not the best photo. But then it's not everyday you see a Lancaster Bomber flying over Pudsey towards Leeds and Bradford Airport. Made a mad dash for the camera."

Yorkshire cyclist James Ward wrote: "That was scary! Lancaster bomber buzzing over the house at some low altitude! Imagine that but so much more and with a very real threat in WW2! Epic to see though."

The RAF Battle of Britain Memorial Flight team is based at RAF Coningsby in Lincolnshire.
